for Environmental Action. Those folks at SCOPE are at it
again! They’re bringing together professionals, academics
and experts and hosting a summit for environmental solutions.
This is an opportunity for business, government, education, civic,
neighborhoods and institutions to learn, ask the hard questions, get
knowledgeable answers and to help develop the basis for a local

January 19: Florida Grassroots Climate
Congress. Energy and legislative representatives will
speak on the Governor’s new environmental/energy Executive Orders,
the Governor’s Climate Action Team, the upcoming legislative
session and policies now under consideration at the Florida Energy
Commission. Three SNCA representatives will be in attendance
to coordinate with similar groups from around the state.
January 30-31: Focus the Nation –
Global Warming Solutions for America. Sponsored by the
University of Florida and Sarasota County Extension Services.
Join more than 600 other communities nationwide that will
simultaneously host speakers and interactive programs on climate and
environmental solutions. The Sarasota Program will explore
issues of the 21st Century Urban Ecosystem, Global Warming
Solutions, Cool and Efficient Cities Through Tree Canopy,
Alternative Energy for the Future, Future Water Management,
Agricultural Innovations, and Impacts and Policy of Rising
Sea-Levels. Events kick off Wednesday night, January
30th, with social network intermission, followed by a 7:30 webcast
of “The 2% Solution”. January 31st presents a full-day
schedule of interactive presentations, where your questions can be
asked and answered. Locations: Twin Lakes Park,
6700 Clark Road, 861-5000. For additional local events being
offered at Jacaranda Library, Gulf Gate Library, Sarasota City Hall,
Ringling School of Design, New College and Pine View School.

Up. Greenpeace is working with groups all over America to
