Longboat Key

Ask your town commissioner to take action on global warming. Longboat Key is extremely vulnerable to the impacts of global warming, but is also in a position to take a leadership role in applying solutions.

Ask your commissioners to:

  1. Pledge to take prompt action to reduce the town’s impact on global warming

  2. Sign the US Mayor’s Climate Protection Agreement

  3. Join ICLEI-Governments for Sustainability to calculate and begin reducing the town’s greenhouse gas emissions (as Sarasota County has)

  4. Sign the 2030 Challenge for Carbon Neutrality (as Sarasota County has)

  5. Establish a staffed sustainability department and a corresponding citizens’ advisory board

  6. Work with Sarasota County and other municipalities to cooperate on mutually beneficial sustainability projects

For more information on any of these proposals, see our mission statement.
