Ask your town commissioner to take action on global warming. Longboat Key is extremely vulnerable to the impacts of global warming, but is also in a position to take a leadership role in applying solutions.
Ask your commissioners to:
-
Pledge to take prompt action to reduce the town’s impact on global warming
-
Sign the US Mayor’s Climate Protection Agreement
-
Join ICLEI-Governments for Sustainability to calculate and begin reducing the town’s greenhouse gas emissions (as Sarasota County has)
-
Sign the 2030 Challenge for Carbon Neutrality (as Sarasota County has)
-
Establish a staffed sustainability department and a corresponding citizens’ advisory board
-
Work with Sarasota County and other municipalities to cooperate on mutually beneficial sustainability projects
For more information on any of these proposals, see our
mission statement.
