SNCA
demonstration on Siesta Key:
"Step
It Up: Cut Carbon 80% by 2050."
Successes
City
of Sarasota
The
Sarasota City Commission
has voted to sign the US
Mayors Climate Protection Agreement. (To see what that
entails see:
http://www.seattle.gov/mayor/climate/).
And
they also voted to join ICLEI, which is a big step toward
being able to actually do what signing the Mayors Agreement
calls for. (See
http://www.iclei.org/).
So
that's two parts of SNCA's Mission Statement accomplished in
the City of Sarasota.
Good work! Now we need to accomplish this in the other
municipalities.
City
of Venice
In
the City of Venice, Mayor Fred Hammett won the City Council
endorsement of the U.S. Mayors Climate Protection Agreement
at the council's regular meeting on Sept. 11. More
information on City
News page under September 14 entry. The measure
was passed on October 9, 2007.
The
City of Venice has also committed $1 million of the penny
sales tax revenue to a renewable energy project thanks to a
suggestion by SNCA. Way to go Venice
SNCA'rs!
